SHAH RUKH KHAN BIO

Shah Rukh Khan (born November 2, 1965), often referred to as SRK, is an Indian film actor. Khan has acted in over 70 Hindi films in genres ranging from romantic dramas to action thrillers. His contributions to the film industry have garnered him numerous achievements including fourteen Filmfare Awards from thirty nominations. His eight Filmfare Best Actor Award wins make him the most awarded Bollywood actor of all time in that category, tied only with Dilip Kumar. In 2005, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.

After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, he started his career with theatre and TV appearances. One of his most famous TV series was Fauji, which aired on DD National in 1988. Khan finally made his Hindi film debut in 1992 with Deewana. He soon gained prominence as a versatile actor after portraying negative/anti-hero roles in films such as Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He solidified that image by successfully portraying romantic roles in the films Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Subsequently, Khan earned wide critical appreciation for his portrayal of a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007) and as the title character of My Name Is Khan (2010). Eleven of the films he has acted in have accumulated gross earnings more than Rupees 1 billion, making him one of the most successful leading actors of Hindi cinema.

He now occupies the position of CEO and Co-Chairman of the motion picture production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment and the animation studio Red Chillies VFX. He is also co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. Khan has been very involved in philanthropic endeavors related to healthcare, relief funds and children’s education, for which he was presented the UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011.

In 2011, the Los Angeles Times called SRK "the world's biggest movie star." In 2008, Newsweek named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world. Khan has an estimated net worth of over Rupees 25 billion (US $540 million). He has been married to Indian film producer and interior designer, Gauri Khan, since 1991. They have a son and a daughter.

Recently, Khan was involved in a controversy over some statements he made in an interview. The repercussions of those statements were such that Pakistan interior minister and even LeT/JuD affiliate Hafiz Saeed had things to say about it. Khan later clarified that he was happy and safe in India, and uncalled-for comments need not be made.

They were both spotted hand-in-hand, gushing to each other at several events, and the there’s the famous incident of Chopra being (supposedly) spotted leaving SRK’s mansion at 3:00 am.

The Kunder Case: At Sanjay Dutt‘s Agneepath bash, Shah Rukh slapped Shirish Kunder, allegedly in response to inappropriate comments Shirish had made about Sanjay’s wife, Manyaata.
