iPhone 6, 6 Plus Price Features And Photos

Apple Announces Superfast, Bigger iPhone 6, 6 Plus

Apple on Tuesday did not surprise its admirers and as expected unveiled two new smartphones - iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - at a function in San Francisco, US.
iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are the thinnest ever Apple has ever made. iPhone 5S and 5 are 7.6mm thick, but iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are even thinner at 6.8mm and 7.1mm respectively. These are, of course, not the thinnest smartphones globally, as that title lies with Gionee's Elife S5.5 with thickness of 5.5mm.
The two phones finally take Apple to the big-screen smartphone segment, sporting 4.7- and 5.5-inch screens respectively. Apple has increased the pixel density of the two smartphones, with the smaller one having 38% more pixels at 1334x750p resolution and iPhone 6 Plus sporting 185% more pixels with screen resolution of 1920x1080p.

Apple is calling the new display panels Retina HD, a "new generation" of iPhone screens. These LCD panels feature ion strengthened glass, but there has been no word on the long-rumoured sapphire glass panel yet.
Powered by the new A8 processor, iPhone 6 is up to 50% more energy efficient, so you can have higher sustained performance. The 64-bit CPU architecture-based A8 processor is 20% faster in application processing and 50% faster in rendering graphics compared to its predecessor. It is able to sustain performance-intensive tasks like playing a game at higher frame rates. The power button is on the side now.
The new generation of iPhones is also the thinnest smartphones Apple has ever made. iPhone 5S and 5 were 7.6mm thick, but iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are even thinner at 6.8mm and 7.1mm, respectively. These are, of course, not the thinnest smartphones, as that title lies with Gionee's Elife S5.5 with thickness of 5.5mm.

The Power button in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is on the side. It features a barometer sensor that can measure relative elevation.

The new iPhones support landscape mode. Apple also unveiled its own take on single-handed operation mode, wherein touching the Home button quickly will shrink down the whole display area such that the buttons on the top can be accessed easily.
Apple has scrapped the 32GB variant with iPhone 6, which now comes in 16, 64 and 128GB options. In the US market, where telecom carriers provide subsidies on smartphones, the two models — iPhone 6 and 6 Plus — will be available for $199, $299 and $399 respectively, on a two-year contract. As rumoured, iPhone 6 Plus will be a $100 more expensive for each storage variant compared to iPhone 6.
iPhone 5S will now cost $99 on a two-year contract, while iPhone 5C is free.
Calling it a "very key day for Apple" in his opening remarks, Cook did not go further into detailing any numbers and adoption figures and announced the new iPhones straightaway.
The two iPhone 6 models sport an 8MP iSight camera that features phase detection. Despite no increase in camera resolution, iPhone 6 takes 43MP panorama photos. And like many rivals , including Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and S5, HTC One (M8) and LG G3, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus features optical image stabilization for blur-free photos and videos.

Apple iPhone 6 latest news Specs To include device that auto unlocks in 'safe locations'

Apple's iPhone 6 could feature a smart unlocking system that allows the user to dispense with the passcode in safe areas.

The tech giant has applied for a patent for the invention - but there's no indication of whether it will go ahead.

The system will automatically unlock your phone in a safe location like your home but then lock when you leave in the same way your phone automatically connects to your Wi-Fi.

But unlike Wi-Fi it doesn't need to be a fixed location - your safe place could be your car.

The patent is titled ‘Location-sensitive security levels and setting profiles based on detected location.'

The iPhone 6 will also feature a virtually indestructible sapphire crystal display, according to a video purporting to show a leaked screen from the forthcoming Apple phone.

The screen is shown withstanding attacks from a knife and a heavy battering from a bunch of keys, which video blogger Marques Brownlee says is "way beyond" what you'd expect to happen in your pocket.

He also demonstrates the screen's ability to withstand pressure, bending the glass more than 90 degrees without any visible damage to the panel.

Apple has used sapphire glass before in both the camera lenses and TouchID sensors on the iPhone 5S, but if the video shows what Brownlee claims it does, the iPhone 6 will be the first smartphone to come to market using the mineral to make its whole display.

It's expected that the glass - which represents a vast improvement in both durability and thickness over the Gorilla glass in use on current models - will eventually be used throughout Apple's iPhone, iPad and wearable devices.

Apple are rumoured to be producing two different sized versions of the phone at their launch this autumn however, only one of the devices will be using the advanced screen.
